Success at Spa Classic

Written by Sporting Cars.

Sporting & Historic Car Engineers attended Spa Classic with 2 Aston Martin DBR9's.
A guest appearance by ex works driver Sam Hancock resulted in 1st place by the end of a wet 1st session.
The 2nd session saw Nikolaus Ditting and Dominik Roschmann qualifying 2nd and 3rd respectively, just behind the Saleen S7.
Both DBR9's ran faultlessly in both races, taking 1st and 2nd in the GTB1 class in race 1.
In race 2, both cars made excellent progress through the field, with Dominik powering to 4th overall and 3rd in class. Nikolaus, thanks to some great overtaking moves overhauled the fast starting Saleen for an impressive 2nd overall and 1st in class.

Sporting & Historic Car Engineers proudly ran the 2007 Le Mans winning Aston Martin DBR9/10 at the inaugural Endurance Racing Legends races by Peter Auto at Barcelona.
It was a clean sweep of 2 pole positions and 2 race wins for the team in the GT1B category, impressively getting overall pole position for race 1 by over 7 seconds and achieving 2nd overall in race 2, thanks to excellent driving by Kriton Lendoudis and Rui Aguas.

CER Event at Spa Francorchamps

Written by Jay.

It was a good weekend for Sporting & Historic Cars at Spa competing in the CER Series.

The Lola T290 of Gianluca Rattazzi / Emmanuelle Pirro qualified 4th for the 1 hour race.  Pirro made a very good start  and went down the outside to take the lead at turn 1 and held onto it for 3 laps despite the close attention of the 3 litre DFV which powered past on the uphill straight. Pirro bravely hung on to 2nd until a safety car intervention took the race through to a pit stop for a driver change.

Gianluca Rattazzi and Emmanuelle Pirro were out again later in the day with the sweet sounding Alfa T33 for CER 1, qualifying in 6th place.  Pirro again made a very good start and was in P2 at the end of the first lap.  He then closed on the leading Lola T70 and pushed hard swapping places several times before another safety car period leading to the pit stop during which a shower of rain and sleet caused a lot of panic in the pit lane!

The Alfa slipped back in the second half of the race with a fuel pump problem resulting in a DNF
